If I can You can too...

Ok, so have you been thinking rolling pin?

I love recipes that only require a few items. This one only requires 4 little items and are soooooo tasty.

Ok kids, lets get ready to make noodles.

Seriously, you will only need 4 ingredients...eggs, flour, salt, pepper. That's it! This first step is the hardest, no not really.

1st put a bit of flour on a cutting board or a butcher block table. Maybe a couple of cups.

Then make a little hole in the middle of the flour .

Next add a couple of eggs to the now empty space. Then add a bit of salt and pepper to the top.

Use a fork to start mixing the flour into the eggs.

At some point you will have to use your hands, sorry, but it is necessary. Please ignore my short stubby hand/fingers-ick! Keep mixing the egg and flour together until there is a solid dough.

Something like this, a dough you can roll out. Now don't get too much flour or you will have stiff noodles. I recommend starting with a small amount of flour and add more if needed. I actually needed a bit more while I was mixing than what I started with.

Find that rolling pin, spread out a bit of flour on the table and then start rolling the dough flat, at thin as you like. I like them thin, but not see through.

Find a knife, pizza cutter, something to cut strips once the dough is rolled flat.

Cut the noodles into strips-again as wide or thin as you like, I like them a bit thin.

Have a bit of flour off to the side and put the cut noodles in the flour to dry for a bit. All you need to do now is add these to you veggie, chicken, beef stock. Cook until you can cut through the noodle easily. I like chicken the best!
If you don't want to mess with the cutting and rolling part. You can just drop the mixture by the spoon full into the stock for drop noodles, but I much prefer the cut ones.
Did I not tell you it's easy. The clean up takes more time than the actual noodle making. Now go impress yourself and make homemade noodles.
Happy new year kids, don't forget your sauerkraut and pork tomorrow. I have my deli ham and kraut all ready for the eat'en.
Have fun tonight, but be safe and find a sober driver!!!!!

Strolling Through the Blog World...

I came across this site...http://owcl.blogspot.com/

Fun to look at, but seriously apparently this person is selling cupcakes, no make that one cupcake for $12.WHAT??? I have to got get into the baking business!

Oh--there may or may not be a If I can you can too posting tomorrow. Think rolling pin.
One thought leads to another...

This morning on Bob and Tom, I am reminded yet again that Urbana, Ohio peoples are taking over the world. Random comment on Bob and Tom in reference to Urbana, Ohio.

Bob and Tom makes me think of my Dad. Which then made me think of this picture I took over the holidays.

Santa the morning after. *grin*

Dad meets the MP3 Player. He has never used one, likely never seen one. My sister was showing him her MP3 Player and he was loving it, amazed that so many songs were stored on such a small item.

Gotta love my Dad, well when he is not annoying the crap out of me.

Thinking of Christmas made me think of Maggie and her love of boxes at Christmas.

Small Amusements…

I often receive professional journals, magazines, newsletter, etc. to read as part of my job to stay current on trends and information that might affect me or my students. I read what I can and often simply don’t have the time to do so and pass it on to the next member of the office. Today my mailbox held yet another item to be read. However, this one amused me. Madonna sang about it, will kinda—“strike a pose”…that’s right Vogue. This is now a member of my reading list, I guess. I somewhat understand, but believe it is a stretch. Anne Hathaway is smiling back at me, saying hey-very ones a little Vogue in their life.

Another small amusement, I can use the ladies rooms on the south side of the building today, but not the north. This is all due to water line changes or something. I guess I’m going to have to get out my compass and make sure I don’t wonder in the wrong direction.

Oh workplace, you provide such small amusements.

My Time Away...

I didn't have much to say and had limited access to the net. However, I hope to return tomorrow with random rants and such. I've simply become boring and have really very little to blog about. No major trips, not major life events. So with that said, of course stay tuned. *grin*

Winter Cleanout...

Today my office smells like Lysol. There seems to be another wave of illness going around and I don't want it. I'm also trying to do some purging. I try to be as paperless as possible, but in meetings often I am forced to have paper to return to my office with. I'm filtering, trying to determine what I really need and what I can recycle. Likely I'll trash something I do need, but oh well, I will deal with that at the needed time. It's Friday and I just can't care.

*smile*

Holiday Evening with The Marrieds...

Last night was what has become the annual holiday meal with the marrieds. We made the decision to eat in this year instead of going out.

My personal Rachel Ray decided to cook up a fest for us all, yeah!!!! I brought the dessert, but no one got ill--at least that I know of. Ms. A and Mr. A brought the appetizer, which was delightful! Some kind of dip, I don't remember the details, but do have the recipe, so it may appear as an episode of "You can too...".

My personal Rachel Ray whipped up a batch of homemade mashed potatoes, a personal fav! She also created a nice baked chicken, peas, homemade noodles, and green beans. ICK on the green beans, but no one is perfect. *grin* As my personal Rachel Ray was creating the noodles I noticed this...

and laughed so hard, I almost peed my pants. Ok, not really, but I did find it quite funny.

The evening was filled with all sorts of fun. There was a little movie watching with the munchkins. Do you have your ticket?...

Once the munchkins crashed out the real fun began. A delightful game of ...

was underway. I do believe we were all a little insane on sugar from dessert, based on the answers flowing. And, yet again, WTF escaped from my mouth. CRAP!

May you all have such delightful holiday gatherings!

Holiday Cheer...

I don't have a single decoration up in my house. I was going to, then I got sick, then I just couldn't be bothered and now it's just too late.

So....I thought I would decorate the blog a bit with a little holiday cheer.

Happy Wednesday, Happy Wednesday to All!

Tuesday Morning...

Ok, so I've got nothing really to discuss, but I thought I would make a few observations.

1. When did text message language enter my every day language. I text message, but not that often. However, this morning, while trying to leave my house for work, I was having a conversation with myself. Hey, I have to have a intelligent conversation every now and then. Anyway, I said out loud and I'm not kidding, "blah, blah, blah, WTF." No, I didn't actually say the full phrase, I said, "WTF". Man oh man.

2. I saw a good bumper sticker this morning, "If you are are not completely appalled, then you are not paying attention." Good one. I'm not a fan of putting bumper stickers on my car, but I enjoy a good read at a red light every now and then.

3. I woke up this morning from a nightmare, I'm not sure if this was part of the nightmare or another dream. Anyway I woke up with an image of a young girl, about 12 screaming at me, "I DON'T understand Mommy!" Yikes, does this mean if I do have a child it will be a girl and than she will be pay back for the grief I gave my mother?

4. I have a brief clip from the Bob and Tom show stuck in my head. I know women of my age do not really listen to Bob and Tom, but I do. It all goes back to when I returned from Europe and didn't have a job, so I was forced to work at my parents store. I rode to work with my father and he listened to Bob and Tom every morning. I did this for almost 8 months, finally I did get a job and yet Bob and Tom still followed me. Anyway, the clip, "Shut up RANDY!" is stuck in my head. It's kinda funny because I never call my Dad Randy, but that is this name, and there are times, I would love to just say "Shut up RANDY!", but of course I wouldn't for fear of loosing my life.

5. We had our office "White Elephant" change last Friday. These gifts are supposed to be something random you have in your basement/garage/trashcan. I don't understand why it's even done, but it is. Can you guess what my "gift" was? Done guessing... here it is...

That's right a Hillary Nutcracker. I was amused actually. The guy that works with my Dad at the store may need to have this gift, I haven't decided yet.

Ok, lets continue with our Tuesday.

Lists...

I have a very long list of items to be completed this weekend. I needed to be very pro-active and no be deterred. I was both of these things on Saturday. I was a machine going down the list, check, check, check.

Then Sunday, Sunday was taken over by nothingness. I did accomplish a couple of things, but not nearly what I needed to. However, I have to say, spending the day really doing very little was delightful. Who know nothingness could be so grand. Cheers to nothingness.

Sunday Special...

Salty soup, coffee, slow photo uploads, wine, pizza, lifetime movies, and Ms. H's random emails.

This has been my unproductive Sunday.

Thursday Ramblings...

So I went to get some photos from the printer last night, no big deal, great done, pick 'em up. Now, one clients wants the photo framed, I'm trying to track down a frame. Find one that is the liking to the clients specs and purchase it. I get the stupid thing home and it's not the size it claimed to be. Now I'm stuck with the dumb frame that will not fit the picture and I'm back on the hunt for a workable frame. ARGH!

I noticed bicyclist have little regard for their own lives or are complete dip shits. Daily I do this crazy dance with bicyclists that weave in and out of cars thinking they are invincible. This morning the bicyclist in front of me also decided to try and dodge in and out of people on the sidewalk. I have to say the people were a lot calmer about it than me because the one pedestrian lost his balance and almost feel.

There is a severe wind tunnel surrounding the campus. There could be no wind just a block off campus, but get on campus and it's gail force winds. HUM!

Friday-Friday-Friday-it WILL be here soon.

It's Beginning...

Last night at the marrieds, a nice little decoration put it loud and clear into my little head, the holiday will be here in only 15 days. ARGH!!!! How did this happen? How did it become Dec. 10 already?

It looked like Christmas Saturday when Ms. H got me out of my house for a bit since I been cooped up with the sickies.

Cute little tree, so cold in the snow.

Mac's yummy fish and chips.

Ms. H enjoying the holiday hop!

A Short Rant...

I do this every winter is seems, have the same rant, pissed off want to pull out my teeth and yet nothing happens.

I understand all are using economical routes right now because of the state of our nation and others. However, the university could find in their tiny little budget the money for a shovel or a bit of salt. Good grief, I have to say, I'm glad I don't have to walk too far from my car to my office because little, very little was done to the sidewalks this morning and I nearly found myself eye to eye with the brown frozen sluge.

To add insult to injury this morning, I blew a headlight. Turned it on and poof gone. Crap! I'm off this afternoon to try and get it fixed, well maybe. I called and they said, well your car can be difficult to do, but we will try. Try, please try and just fix it. Deer running rampant this time of year is not the time of year when I need to have a headlight out.

ARGH!

National Cookie Day...

In honor of this day, an edition of If I can You can Too.
Lets create Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, shall we.
Ok, pre-heat your oven to 325 and put in your baking sheet.
Then melt a cup of butter, just until soft.
Then in a large bowl, mix until smooth the
1 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 white sugar
(These are cookies people, just don't eat the etire batch yourself!)
Then add in two eggs--the recipes says one at a time, I don't know why, but I did.
Then stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Now in another bowl mix the dry stuff--
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Then pour the dry stuff into the wet stuff and mix.
Then add--

3 cups quick-cooking oats (see it says heart healthy)

1 cup chopped walnuts or not--do you feel like a nut or not--I didn't

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips--or a bit more if your like, I liked.

It should all look something like this.

Then spoon them on to a baking pan. They don't really spread too much, but a bit. (should have taken photo of first ones, opps.)

Bake on 325 until lightly brown, or about 10-12 minutes. You should leave them on the baking dish or a moment before moving them to the cooling rake, they are less likely to fall apart.

Yum, McYum!

The Longest Drive...

I wish this were a story about golf. I did play golf on my sister's new wii--I think I ended up with tennis elbow too.

Anyway I digress, this is not a story about golf, it is a story about my Thanksgiving 2008.

The drive to Iowa was 10 hours-long, but ok...I was looking forward to being this...

However, the corn was all gone or most of it anyway. Picked for the season.
I did arrive to find a fresh backed pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Yum!! The turkey will all the trimmings. I guess my sister can cook-who know.

The weekend passed uneventful. Wii play, cops knocking on doors--Oh yeah that might need a bit explaining. I guess my car alarm had been going off for some time, we couldn't hear it because my sister's apartment is on the back side. The cop came knocking on the door to have the stupid thing turned off. Johnston cops are pretty young, I think 12.

We watched the weather report and felt, now worries on leaving Sunday morning.

We woke of to this...

So we decided to wait until closer to daylight to take off in the car, give the roads a bit of time to have some attention from the IDT--Is that right, we have ODT.

It started to look more like...

It was all a thin layer of snow, an inch maybe. Although driving did turn out to be fun, but no major issues, more slush than anything else.

We figured once we hit Illinois it would be rain and all good. I gave up driving to sleep after about 3 hours and handed the wheel to my mother. I crashed in the backseat, only to wake up to this...

Illinois had a lot more than an inch and several accidents. My Mom gave up the drive and I took over again when we stopped for lunch. Finally 12 hours later, Ohio yeah! My poor parents had another 2 hours ahead of them. Oh well we all made it back and safe, so no worries.

Opps, my photos of Dr. G teaching how to tie a bow tie among other things in class this morning. I know, I hobnob with the best of them.

A few Pics...
There is no real rhyme or reason to the order, just pics.
Remember I told you I made a batch of pumpkin dumplings in the mini muffin pan--I wasn't pulling your leg.

Cut the crust into strips and place in pan.

Then add a bit of filling and cover with the crust.

Bake'm up-- not too long just until brown--yum!

Ok, a few Iowa pics...

Lou made the trip, but got bored and started snapping photos of himself in my sister's car.

We ate at the Machine Shed again, but I think the first time was better.

Lou is sitting on my sister's warm new scarf. I finished knitting it a couple of weeks ago, but never got a photo posted.

Now I have to dash home and pay my rent over the lunch hour--Did you realize yesterday was Dec. 1--when did that happen?

Up & Down Monday...

Today, so far, has been a bit odd.

The morning started out pretty rough, woke up with sore throat and cough, but it's been getting better throughout the day. I'm hoping it goes away soon. I have a feeling it's from being trapping in a car for 12 hours with Sicky, McSickerson on the drive back yesterday. It took longer than normal because of the weather in Iowa and Illinois. Normally the weather dudes exaggerate the amount of snow, this time they underestimated.

I can not have a winter of being sick all the time. Go away, go away now!

Due to my lack of wellness and a general dislike of mornings, I had a struggle of getting up and going. I finally did, but not quick enough I was a bit late so will be here a bit late. ICK! Oh well, at least I didn't have an early morning appointment.

After my lack luster start, I was surprised and joyed to find a check I thought I had lost in a cabinet in my office. I must have put it up there thinking it would be safe and forgot about it. I've been looking for the check for two weeks and had written it off, but yeah, it's found...the day is looking up a bit.

Iowa stories and a few photos tomorrow-pending photo download.

Hope all have a bearable Thanksgiving!
