Lou jumped in my work bag...

He hung out for a bit on the desk, he's hiding in my bag again. Poor Lou, he is finding out it is not all pots of gold and rainbows.

Where In The World Is...

Carmen San Diego.  No, where is Lou or where has he been.  He's been hanging out at the house, but he got a bit bored this weekend and took on a couple of firsts for Lou.

He made a trip to Medina, Ohio.  He enjoyed the lovely tunes of Mumford & Sons on the way there, then just chilled with Mr. T and Ms. T and the furry family. (Thanks Mr. T & Ms. T)

He also experienced the automatic car wash for the first time.  He much enjoyed himself...see for yourself.

Happy Monday!

What is a Playaway?...

Great question reader. A Playaway is basically an MP3 Player with a single book already programed. You can listen to the book, pausing at any point, and start back where you left off. My library provides the playaway and I provide the battery and the head phones. This takes a lot less battery than trying to listen to an entire book on CD on a portable CD player, although I maybe the only one left that uses this. I'm on playaway number 2 and still using the same battery.

Find more at playaway.com or ask at your local library.

I admit, I prefer the paper of a book and the actual page turning, but this is a great way to get in books you want to read while doing dishes, cooking, or walking. At least for me.

The current playaway I'm listening to and my purple earbuds.  *grin*

Happy Wednesday!

Library Lovers Day...

Yesterday was Library Lovers Day. I missed this due to such cute pictures of Ms. S.

Today, I went and visited my library, I think library lovers day should be every day. Go visit your library, love it, love that fact that even though they have experienced severe cuts here in Ohio, we still have one of the best state systems out there.

My library just started getting "Playaways". Check them out...great walking material.

Happy Valentine's Day...

Ms. S will be celebrating her first Valentine's Day and I thought she would be a great spokesperson for today.

She decided no more paparazzi. She started to feel the Lohan pressure.

After pondering for a moment or two she decided Valentine's Day was ok and would like to wish you all a very wonderful Valentine's Day!

A Friday Toast...

An Irish Toast for this Friday...

"Here's to a long life and a merry one. A quick death and an easy one. A handsome man and an honest one. A cold pint and another one!"

Enjoy your weekend!

A Little Morning Music...

I woke up this morning singing this. I don't normally wake up singing, so it makes me wonder what in the world I was dreaming about. When I got to work, I went in to listen to it and discovered I had the lyrics all wrong. Janis also sings much better than I do.

Then after a few times of listening to Janis. I started searching for a few at my top play list right now. Many will not allow the video to be embedded so you miss out on Distrubed, P.O.D, and a few others, but these are also very good.

This first one, I just love and I can't tell you exactly why, I just do.

This one also rocks!

This is an older one, but I can now listen to this one again without cringing, not because of the song, but because of a well, long story for another time. *grin*

Then, I needed a little more Janis.

Oh, so nice to have a variety of options for my many personalities.

This one will really throw you. No, for the most part I do not like country music. However, my cousin played this at his wedding and I really liked it. It's kinda country meets soft island music.

This one I like because, it makes me think of summer and warm sun....no ice or snow!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Why I Veg At The End of The Day...

So far this morning, I have talked with several individuals. Just a few of the highlights.

-put on bed rest for her 3rd child, tilted pelvis and bleeding of something...oh and that was 30 years ago

-sister died a few months ago

-separating from husband, back from Iraq is not the same

-mother dying of heart failure

-can't get transcripts from home country

And it's not even noon yet. Does this explain why by the time my work day is done, I'm a bit burnt out and simply want to veg. I do love my job and I try not to take on the stress of these individuals, but sometimes it just gets to you and it takes it out of me...this is one of those weeks and my goodness it's only Wednesday.

I've taken a 5 minute mental health break, now for the next one.

February is Heart Month...

Valentine's Day falls in February, but all it's Heart Health Month. Keep that ticker in your chest going, well if you have one. I don't know that I've got one some days.

There are many foods that help your ticker. Blueberries, Salmon, Oatmeal, Almonds, Black Beans, Tuna, Carrots, Broccoli, and Spinach are just a few of those foods. Are you having any of these on your plate today? Maybe you should, I'm just saying, I need blog readers, so stick around awhile, eat a few of these next week.

Red wine is also good for you, so since it's Friday an Irish Toast to you..."May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live."

Helicopter Parenting Gone Too Far...

I read a brief article online this morning about a Mother who signed a letter of intent for her son to play football for Ole Miss. The letter came through as a fax and when the office could not quite read the signature they requested another copy and the player decline to attend. It is believe the Mother signed the letter and faxed it, while the player plans to attend Texas A&M (not confirmed).

Oh Mom of this football player, land your helicopter! I'm not a parent, but isn't parenting supposed to be raising a child to make good, quality decisions on their own, with the long term of being positive contributing members of society? Wouldn't the college you plan to attend be one of those decisions?

(For those of you who do not work in education, we use the term helicopter parents to describe the parents who hover over their children, not letting them move into adulthood.)

My Morning...

Thankfully, no accidents, except a sore hip right now...good times. Thanks job for keeping the cost low for students by not investing in any salt. ARGH!!!!

Thank you Phil, I don't think I can take anymore winter. At least stop the ice, I'll take snow any day over the ice.

Really, I think Phil knew if he predicated more winter, we would all be saying, "Off with his head!"

Happy Birthday Ms. H, maybe Phil's predication was a gift, just for you.
