Nollaig Shona Dhuit (NoLik Suna Ditch)…

How many of you have a holly wreath on your doors? Many do in the spirit of the holiday season. Did you know this tradition started in Ireland? Holly was a plant that was in season during the Christmas season and abundant. This gave those that did not have money a way to decorate their homes for the Christmas holiday. In Ireland all the holiday decorations are traditionally taken down on Little Christmas or Nollaig na mBan, January 6th (the Feast of the Epiphany). It is considered bad luck to them down before this.
