Random Facts…
You never know when you might need to know this stuff.
* The peanut isn't a nut. It is a legume, a member of the pea family. (Sometimes, you feel like a nut…)
* According to the federal Trade Commission, there are 20,000 television commercials made each year that are aimed exclusively at children. Of these, 7,000 are for sugared breakfast cereals. (I discovered Fruity Pebbles in college-love them!)
* In Sweden, it is a breech of etiquette for you to toast your host or anyone who is your senior in rank or age until after they toast you. (Keep this in mind for you next trip.)
*Ice cream was invented in China around 2000 B.C. when the Chinese packed a soft milk-and-rice mixture in snow. About 62 A.D., the Roman Emperor Nero sent slaves to the tops of the Apennines Mountains to bring fresh snow down to the royal kitchens, where the snow was then flavored with fruits and honey. (I’m just glad someone figured it out!)
