Vegas Pictures...

My lovely friend Ms. L had to attend a conference in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago.  Lou and I tagged along for the long weekend.

Let's start with our Posh Hotel.

 We stayed at the Encore.

 Yep, the room continued...and this was not considered a suite.

The sign is too small in the blog picture to see, but Lou is sitting with the refreshment bar that was in the room. You could pick up an item to view it, but only for 59 seconds and then the item was charged to your room, same thing with the fridge stuff.  Needless to say, Ms. L and I didn't pick anything up...not when prices started at $9 for a small bit of candy.

The Hotel was great, but if you want to make your own coffee in the morning plan to stay somewhere else, no coffee makers in the rooms here, you can order two cups from room service for $9.  Also, if you plan to use the workout room, plan to spend $19 a day to use it.  I simply melted while walking on The Strip...good bad it all came back when I returned to OH-IO.

Thank you Ms. L. Love Vegas and an open bar. Little cab for you, yes please...love red wine. Little champagne for you, yes please. Little extra dirty martini, YES PLEASE!

Sorry dude in 3242....wrong floor, writing room number down...a good thing. 3142...in case I ask later. Off to walk the strip...2 hours sleep in the last 35 hours...yikes!

Lunchbox Museum...

Did you know that in Vinton County, Ohio there is a Lunchbox Museum?  There is! Now, I do NOT recommend a trip to Vinton County just to visit this museum, because it is a small room off of a not so great restaurant, but it is there.  I did visit once and I think once was enough.  Although some of the lunchboxes were quite amusing or good for mental time travel.

He-Man!  I thought She-Ra was better, but of course she was the Princess of Power.  Did you know you can watch episodes on hulu?

They even had a few old toys.

 

How many of use born in the 1970's had one of these phones?  I know I did!

 

I apparently like the "!" today.  Sorry, I'm just amped I guess.  One Venti Carmel Lite Frappuccino for me thanks!  Yummers and only 220 calories!  Can we say-LOVE!  Happy weekend kids!



Going Through Flashdrives...

I've been trying to weed pictures I don't really need to be saved off of a few of my flashdrives.  I'm not sure why, I don't need the space.  I find I have difficulty deleting pictures, even if they are not good ones. I also seem to take a lot of pictures of similar subjects.

Hayden Run Falls...

Yesterday I took a few moments to visit the Hayden Run Falls.  It was a nice afternoon for a quick trip and a few simple pictures with the point and shoot camera.

 The falls is a nice escape from the city, in the city. 

 On a hot afternoon the cool spray from the falls can be a grand relief.

The trees are so green, such a contrast to the grey rock wall.

It's Monday, not to piss off Karma, but not a bad Monday so far.

More Random Photos to Share...

Last year I took a group of students to Vinton County for a week.  Why, you ask.  Well sometimes during that week I was asking myself the same question. However, overall they were great students and hopefully made a impact on the students in Vinton County, to encourage them to seek an education of some kind beyond a high school diploma.

 We visited a castle in Vinton County, Ohio.  I love this shrub design in the garden.

The castle is actually a B&B, you can spend the night in this room.  I really just want the headboard and decorations for my own room. I mean, how whimsical.

I told you it was a castle--I think it's call Ravenwood Castle. 

Lou made this trip.  I wanted to show his support of the Extension Office an the 4-H efforts in Vinton County.  Lou,such a do-gooder at heart.

Thank goodness it's Friday...somehow karma is giving me a case of the Monday's on a Friday and I'm not liking it too much, but at least the weekend is soon.

A Week...

Sunday is Mother's Day...

Just a few of the reasons my Mom is great...

1. She let me take photography in 4-H the one year I participated, even paid for all the film development.


2. She didn't force me to do a 2nd year in 4-H.

3. She patiently sat in the passenger seat, while I attempted over and over and over and over and over again to learn how to parallel park in a set of damn cones.

4. She drove me to countless softball games/practices.

5. She drove me all the way to the next town for a funeral and when we got there and I couldn't go in, she simply turned the car around and went for ice cream.

6. She encouraged me to read!

7. She flew to Texas with me, helped me rent an apartment, and didn't bat an eyelash when I decided not to move.

8. She still sends me care packages in the mail.

9. Even though I'm *cough* 35, she still makes my bed at her house.

10.  She allows me to go to the "Barn Church" and doesn't push for the other option.

My Mom would prefer not to be in front of a camera, so in respect for her wishes, this will have to do-this time.
