Dear Karma...

I understand the past couple of days you have been unhappy with me: crazy prices on my allergy meds, disrupting my sleep, giving me splitting headaches, breaking bowls, etc. I get it, I'm not sure what I did, but I'll do better. This magnet in the office I'm in today makes your point clear. Oh how I hate those monkeys.

My sweet tooth is in overdrive this week. Why else would I make bread and pumpkin blondies in the same week and a double batch of the pumpkin at that.

Thank goodness dinner tonite with the marrieds, I can take most of the pumpkin there.

Have a grand weekend!

Hmmmmm.....is this 10,000 steps a day or more and what is average. Snapple does not clarify. Oh well, back to enjoying my new favorite treat.

Mini Letters...

Dear Mother Nature,

Thank you for bringing autumn back.  I was in fear that there would be no autumn and we would simply go from summer to winter.  Autumn is my favorite time of year, so I greatly appreciate your assistance today.

With Love,
ME

Dear Self,

In the future do not attempt to do a Mcgyver job of hemming your pants just moments before you must wear them, not start, you will be late for work.  Also, buy a new pair of black dress shoes, these ones are killing your feet.

All The Best,
ME

Dear Columbus Drivers,

I understand that in the city is is rare that you must deal with a four way stop, however, when the lights go out, you must treat them as a four way stop.  If you have forgotten how a four way stop works, then you need to park your car and review your driver permit book again.

Sincerely,
ME

Dear Ms. T,

Thank you for being you. Thanks for the tickets the other day, they were greatly appreciate!

You ROCK!
ME

Dear Readers,

I caught a bit of a cold over the weekend and I'm not quite in a groove yet with my new job and getting ready for art shows and such.  I'm a slacker and as has happened in the past, the blogging is the one to suffer. If you are still checking to see if new posts are here, you really are the best!

Have a grand day!

Misc...

In an orientation today for work, yes this is my second one, I guess they really want me to be oriented. It's helpful information, except the guy sitting next to me keeps talking to himself and as the day progresses is starting to smell. Ick. At least he works in another department, even campus.

In more fun news I went to my first Blue Jackets game this week. I didn't understand all the rules, but it was fun, esp since they won in an overtime shoot out.

It's Friday! Do a dance and enjoy your weekend!

The Fair...

Going through photos this evening I found many forgotten photos.  So, sad, they must be shared.  In August, I visited the Iowa State Fair.  Why you ask, well, good question, I have no good answer.  I mean yes, there are tons of fairs here in Ohio.

Buy the t-shirt, no silly, just take a picture of it, to confirm you really were at the Iowa State Fair.

There were a ton of people there, even though it was crazy hot.

Good thing about the Iowa State Fair, one can have a pint of beer with their chips.  Notice scary blue finger nail polish.  It just added to the fun fair experience.

When beer does not cool one off a nice popsicle is highly recommended.

And that kids is a short trip to the fair.  It's Tuesday, I think...still over loaded with new information.

New Residents...

The mill has a couple of new residents.  After a morning of nothing but non-stop bagging of corn for deer hunters, I took a moment to snap a photo of the two new residents at the mill.

Throughout the years different cats have lived at the mill.  Maggie was actually a kitten from Molly the original mill cat.  These two showed up a few weeks ago.  They are just getting to the point where you can pet them, only if you have treats for them though.  They will have to catch mice to earn their keep.  They are just kittens right now, but soon, they will have to start meeting their quota weekly.  That or learn to bag corn, good grief those Jersey boys buy a ton of corn, well really almost two ton of corn every weekend.

This young lady is very curious and will play with a string for a bit perks up at the first sound of the treat container.

This young man is a bit more cautious.  He will come out for treats if you step away, but sits back and will just watch the other kitten play with the string.

My brain is fried from tons of new information from the new job, so kittens are calming. Happy Monday!

Trip Across the Border...

Quick trip to Calabash, N.C. today crossed over from S.C., really far trip, all of 10 minutes. Took a boat ride out into the ocean. Saw a few dolpin, watched a shrimp boat pull in their bounty, and saw a couple of sting ray up close. Who knew a two hour tour could zap all of your energy.

SC...

My week has been filled with surf, sand, pools, a lovely lazy river, margaritas, sangria, tilapia, red snapper, sea scallops, crab, shrimp, sunscreen, many towels, wine, and shopping. Ok, little shopping, but today was a shopping day. I did buy this great t-shirt. Gotta love it. The SC Gamecocks. I know it's a bit childish, a bit "Wayne's World-ish", but the Gamecocks are just fun to say.

Go Gamecocks!

My Morning...

Early alarm to see sunrise. Brilliant veiw from the balcony. Walk in the surf. Coffee at the bar watching the surf. Fresh krispy kreme for breakfast.

Now sitting on the beach, soon to be in the water.

This afternoon, more of the same.

Ah, vacation!

Sitting at the laundry mat. Why you ask, well my cat had to take a car ride this morning and she decided my Mom's lap was a good location to pee. So, I'm here trying to correct Maggie's wrong. Too bad my parents store doesn't have a washing machine!

I hope your Friday starts and ends a bit better than mine.

If It's Wednesday...

It's trivia day!

In hockey, the penalty box is often referred to as the sin bin.

The fairy tales Puss in Boots, Little Red Ridinghood, Cinderella, were first written down by Charles Perrault, who also helped design part of the Louvre.

It is estimated that a single toad may catch and eat as many as 10,000 insects in one summer.

There are 119 grooves on the edge of a quarter.

The term hung jury, a jury that cannot agree on a verdict, was started in the 1840's.

About 2 billion tons of animal manure are produced in the U.S. every year. France, Holland and Belgium have been classified by the European Community as "manure surplus" regions because they produce more than their land can absorb.

The condensed water vapor trail left behind by jets is called a contrail.

The chameleon has a tongue that is 1.5 times the length of its body.

The Netherlands is the lowest country in the world. It is estimated that 40 percent of the land is below sea level.

Now you know!

Lists...

I have found I like making lists.  To Do lists are great, I love being able to check items off as they are accomplished.  It makes me feel a small sense of moving forward.  Often lists can be helpful. Pro/Con lists can help when making a difficult decision.  I don't always stick to my lists, but that's ok too.

I liked my year of 34 list, although I kinda lost track of it.  I think I'll continue the idea for the year of 35.

Thing I've never done before in this my 35th year.

1. Got a pedicure.  I know can you believe it, 35 and never had a pedicure, but it's true. I got one over the weekend. It was great. I was a bit nervous, ok a lot nervous because I have very sensitive feet to the point of pain sometimes, but it went well and my toes are so darn cute.  I went with a bright pink, I figure in a couple of weeks, if it lasts that long, I will not loose my toes in the sand.

2. Got a full body massage.  Dear goodness it was awesome!  Charles Penzone Salon, you lived up to your reputation and I thank you kindly for it.  I will try to work more massages into my budget, so worth it.

That's it for now, but those were two great ones, right.

To Do...

List: Oil change- waiting on it now; Walmart run- done, thankgoodness, hate doing it but needed every now and then; Party supply store- done, Woot, that place is a trip, a good one; Kroger- next; laundry- some done a mound still to go; cleaning- hmmm soon, Ick; dinner at Brio- only if I get all others done soon.

Hmmm... is this how I envisioned my day off? Well no, but need, and hey I'm not at work.

Enjoy your weekend kids!

Random Wednesday Trivia...

Can you guess who this person is?

This person's first and only dog was named Tiny.  The cutie lived 16 great years.

This person once had a horse named Jan.

This person's current pet is a cat named Maggie.

Oh, I know I've stumped you now...but I'll keep going.

This person was Junior Class President at her High School. And, yes, the class song was "Friends in Low Places".  Sad, but true.

This person was a stubborn or determined child who liked challenges, depending on your view.  Yes, those are mini jackasses.  Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get a jackass to go somewhere it doesn't want to, a real challenge.

This person loves white chocolate ice mochas with skim milk and no whip.

This person used to wear overalls for play and not cleaning hog pens and looked just adorable.

This person used to swim and play in this creek below her parents house as a child before she learned there were water snakes.  Then the fun ended quickly.

This person can't help but laugh at this video.

This person is turning 35 today.

Can you now guess this person?

You kids are so smart...yes, it's me.

Tuesday Trivia...

No, just kidding Wednesday is trivia day silly...well at least the Wednesday's I remember to do it.

This past weekend was the Dublin Irish Festival...excellent craic.  Lots of dancing, Irish music, kilts, laughs, music, fish and chips, kilts, bagpipes, kilts, lemon shake ups, kilts, Irish music, kilts...did I mention there were kilts.  *grin*

There was of course the yearly sand sculpture.  This was early Saturday, there was loads more added, but didn't think to take a final picture.

I got to hear my favorite Trad Irish song.  YEAH!!!

And I found the design for my next tattoo.  One small problem...loads of detail..but this was carved into a big hunk of stone...can you imagine.  It was awesome, but had a really awesome price too, darn it.

In other random news...look Ma, I've got nails.  Two weeks of not working at my parents store and my nails actually will grow. Forgive the crappy paint job and wrinkly almost 35 year old hands...and just look at those nails.  Ah, yeah!
Today is Tuesday, it will be a good day.  I did a jig last night just to make sure it was and scary, but true, I wore a skirt to work today...kids this only happens once in a very blue moon.

Thursday, August 05, 2010

Fair-ly Fun...

The Ohio State Fair is currently in full swing, I recommend if you haven't been in a few years, go, enjoy.  If nothing else it's great people watching.

There are pigs...not that I don't see enough of them myself, but if you haven't seen a pig in a while, the hog barn does have a fun gift shop with all things pig.

Jim from NBC 4 says the weather is all good in Columbus, even in his scarecrow form.

I don't know if NBC 4 will be doing the news from the fair when you are there, but if they are you can see just want talking heads they really are.

I'm telling you the people watching is grand, this I just can't even explain. I just look about in wonder.

Who Knew…

Yesterday I had a pinch in my neck that just didn’t want to go away, so I scheduled an appointment with my chiropractor. I don’t really care for him, but he’s who I’ve been going to for the past 3 years and it’s just easier to keep going then trying to find another one and he’s terribly close to my house. So this morning I went for a visit.

I’ve been having a bit of stress in my life this week that has contributed to my neck and the chiropractor asked why I was stressed. I have him the quick version basically just waiting for the snap, crackle, pop yet to come. Turns out my chiropractor can undo pinched nerves and be a personal therapist.

Who know that for all of a $20 co-pay I could get my neck and back in order and solve my life problems. Baaaahhhhahahahahah, he needs to stick to the snap, crackle, pop.

It’s Friday kids, enjoy your weekend!

The Fest…

The Dublin Irish Festival is coming up next weekend. Are you ready?

I’m excited to see one of the new bands scheduled to play, Barleyjuice. They sound like they will be grand.

Of course there are old favorites returning again this year.

Gaelic Storm…

The ever amusing Tartan Terrors…

The 78th Fraser Highlander Pipe Band, how can you not love a bagpiper!

There will also be some good Ohio kids: Brigid’s Cross, Knot Fibb’n, and Ladies of Longford.

Sadly there will be no Mickey Finns there,

Per their facebook page, they will be playing at the Indy Irish Fest on Sept. 18, anyone up for a road trip?

Of course the best part about the fest, I’ll be there of course, Saturday and Sunday--at least that's the plan! Get there and enjoy the Craic!

Random Wednesday Trivia…

What US state was called Franklin until 1796? Tennessee!

Weird but true… The lyricist of the song "Keep the Home Fires Burning," Lena Gilbert Ford, burned to death in her home.

In England a "bap" is a hamburger bun.

Horse-racing regulations state that no race horse's name may contain more than eighteen letters. Names that are too long would be cumbersome on racing sheets.

Therefore you would never see a horse named…
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch

This is the name of a town in North Wales. The name translates as "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave" in Welsh.

Or…

This hill in New Zealand called

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu

This translates into English as "the place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as 'landeater,' played his flute to his loved one."

And now you know.

MSN This Morning…

As I was looking over the headlines I notice this 36 Things Every Single Girl Must Do Before She Settle Down.

Copied directly from MSN.

To Build Your Confidence…

1. Go to a movie alone. (I love going to movies by myself. Just went to one last week by myself. I don’t see this as a big deal.)

2. Lift weights. When I bench-press 45 lbs., I feel like the bomb. (Hummm, not sure how much I can bench press, but I can throw a 50 lb bag of feed over my shoulder and carry it around.)

3. Try surfing, water-skiing, or some activity you don't already know how to do. Could be riding a bicycle. (I really want to learn to drive a motorcycle. I’ve been trying to convince my Dad to buy one so I can learn then get my own.)

4. Take out the trash, set a mousetrap, do your taxes, build a bookcase. (Done, done-but it’s gross, done, and done-well, if the ones that come in a box count.)

5. Live alone, or at least move apartments in NYC without the help of family. (Done)
6. Train for (and finish) a huge physical test like a half-marathon. (Seriously, I need to do this while single. I don’t think so, thanks for the advice though.)

7. Go to a scary doctor's appointment by yourself. I once dragged myself to a CAT Scan in the dead of winter, all the way over on 1st Ave., post-break-up. I felt like I was made of steel. (Done)

8. Quit your job. It feels so good to take a job and shove it (and not be affecting anyone else's livelihood). (Done, the best one was the F-U to FU.)

9. Fly to a foreign country by yourself. I was nervous on my first solo trip to Europe, even though I almost always have to travel alone. (Done, first trip abroad, I flew over the big blue ocean and a friend was popping out a baby. April 28-Happy Late Birthday Mr. L!)

10. Learn to stand up for yourself. (If you're not naturally assertive, may I recommend moving to New York City? It did wonders for me.) (Done)

To Be Able to Look Back and Say "I Had Fun"…

11. Witness something once-in-a-lifetime, like Jokulsarlon, a lake next to a melting glacier in Iceland (see photo). (I think the Cliffs of Mohr count…awesome!)

12. Revel in being able to watch all the reality TV you want. I'm pretty sure no man will be able to stand as much Bravo TV as my roommate Erica. (I have been watching America’s Got Talent, but beyond that, not too much into reality TV.)

13. Get drunk during the day, just because you can. Attend Santacon, the convention for Santas, or something similar. (Well, I’ve been drunk during the day…not in recent years, but in past.)

14. Go on a date with someone who actually makes you nervous. (Most all of them!)

15. Go out with an older man who takes you somewhere nice and makes you feel like a million bucks. (Done, yes, I have dated guys older than me…even though I am an ageist and I admit it. I’ve gotten past it, it’s more my age that bothers me now.)

16. Go out with a guy who makes you laugh ‘til it hurts. (Done)

To Get Perspective…

17. Be a good wingwoman. It's not always about you. (It’s always about me, but I can be a pretty good wing woman.)

18. Chill with your widowed and single grandma. She knows "alone"! (I miss two of my grandmothers that have passed away. I do wish they were still around! Grandma Sharon made the best ginger snap cookies ever and Grandma Baker always made me a round, double layer cake for my birthday. In addition to their baking skills, they had stories. I do miss ‘em.)

19. Volunteer. (Does the Dublin Irish Fest Count? I did volunteer, but had a blast doing it.)

To Make You Appreciate the Next Guy…

20. Do at least one Valentine's Day alone. (A lot of them alone.)

21. Attend a wedding (or 15) alone. (Done)

22. Date the creeps. You'll really value the nice guys afterward. (Well, I’ve got the creeps part down, I just gotta focus now on nice ones.)

To Make You Feel Sexy and Attractive…

23. Buy yourself some flowers. (Done, I love having fresh flowers in the house, I should buy them more often.)

24. Invest in a LBD (little black dress) and some sexy stilettos. (Done, except the stilettos, yikes.)

25. Sit at a bar by yourself and drink a martini. Cool.  (Done, but a beer)

26. Buy something frivolous and expensive that you LOVE wearing.  (Done)

To Make the Most of Your Free Time…

27. Finish all your schooling if you can. Not that it was ever my goal to go to grad school, but I did, and it would've been tough dragging a guy up to isolated New Hampshire and making him sit there in the cold for two years while I studied (and partied).  (One BA and one MEd, Done)

28. Throw yourself into something time-consuming, like learning a foreign language. You may not have time to do this again until you retire and the kids are off to college.  (Still learning knitting skills, better, but still working on it.)

To Make Yourself a Better Partner in the Future…

29. Make a list of all your faults.  (The list is too long.)

30. Learn to cook well. I'm still working on this.  (Working on it, my Pamper Chef stuff, really helps.)

31. Get some hobbies. Something's gotta keep you occupied—plus it'll make you seem interesting.  (I've got a few.)

32. Let your married friends edit your online dating profile. My dear friend Cheryl has caught a few doozies.  (I have done this, mostly they are good to me, but sometimes, well let's just say I had to edit it again.)

33. Get your finances in order.  (This is a real challange, but trying.)

To Appreciate Being Single…

34. Babysit someone's baby for an hour.  (Done many times.)

35. Help a friend through her divorce or a bad break-up.  (Sadly, I've done this too.)

36. Host a girls-only night. I think some coupled-up women forget how much we need each other.  (Done!)

So, in my almost 35 years, I think I’ve gotten it right, at least according to this woman’s list. I guess some of these things could be considered scary, if you haven’t done some of these, take life by the balls kids and go for it.

It's finally Friday, yeah!  It's 4000 degrees outside, but I don't care.  I'm simply excited that it's Friday and it's the weekend.

Enjoy your weekend!

Update--Issue Resolved.  YEAH!

Crap-O-La

Any fellow bloggers out there, in a moment of insanity, I click on stuff to allow facebook and crap, but don't want it and need to take it down, but can't find out how to anywhere...if you have any ideas, please let me know as soon as you can.  All I need is for my job to see what I just posted. Oh, I'm such an idiot sometimes. ARGH!
Sometimes Life Makes You Go Hummmm…

I was crazy busy so no post on Tuesday.

Tuesday night I thought of all possible interview questions for Wednesday morning, I had a great outfit ready to go (a girl has to have priorities), I had my portfolio, I had my bag, and I had my parking pass all set. Wednesday, I woke up at 530am, thanks to the lovely birds, I have GOT to get another set of ear plugs, tried to ignore them, moved to the spare bed and then got up, showered ready to take on the world, or at least nail the interview that would lead to the job to start the next set of my life.

Well I wish Wednesday everyone would have seen thinking similar to my new coffee mug, thanks to Ms. L…

(If everyone agreed with me, they'd all be right.)

However, no!  No the world was pissing on my plan. So long story short, the interview was not good, I don’t anticipate a call back but will keep the outfit.

Today. Today I have a headache, I’m not in such a great mood, I really want to be on a patio drinking pitchers of margaritas and nibbling on chips and guacamole (ummmm), but I’m not I’m at work just trying to make it until 330pm. I’m going to skip lunch and leave a bit early. I’m whiny and I’m ok with that, I’ll pull it together by tomorrow and life will continue as it has. I was just a silly girl who got her hopes up there might be a positive change in her life and that hope has been ripped from me by my jugular or at least it feels that way.

ahhhh chips and guac

Weekend Observations…

This weekend, I noticed myself making mental notes of what not to do in the world based on observations of my fellow humans out and about.

1.   Do not walk around a department store talking on my cell phone with the speaker phone on. The other customers in the store might find me distracting, annoying, and downright rude, depending on the topic of conversation.

2.  Do not take my 7 or 8 year old daughter to see The Back-up Plan, it’s a crappy movie even for the $1 movie and it is rated PG-13. She will likely get bored or feel uncomfortable with the content and talk during the entire movie. Other movie goers might get a bit annoyed even if the movie is crap and she’s trying to talk softly. My daughter would more likely enjoy a movie not rated PG-13 and more PG.

3.  Do use the complementary footies offered in the shoe department. I wouldn’t want any possible foot fungus that I might have spread to others because I didn’t bother.

4.  Do not start working on the rental property I own before 10am. I will keep in mind that my renters may only get to sleep in once in every great while and might not enjoy the sound of a hammer pounding on the wall at the butt crack of dawn!

Oh Monday…get me to Wednesday and may the sun shine, I find pennies heads up, and the world love me Wednesday.

Thursday Photo Round-Up...

Ok, I don't really know what that means.  Today has been busy, crazy, busy, random, and odd.  Nothing bad odd, just odd.

Right now I'm killing time waiting on a phone interview.  Next Wednesday I have an actual in person interview.  It's all very exciting to be wanted.  Well at least wanted right now, that's been my problem. I'm wanted, wanted even for a second interview then nothing.  Oh well, the phone interview this afternoon, well, it's not that I don't want it, but I don't know if I want it.  I applied out of frustration one day.  The one Wednesday, well I really want it.  Sigh!

Ok a couple of photos.  I made instant tea this morning and got it a bit strong I think.  It looked morel like a Guinness than tea.

The rain the other night must have been much more intense than I thought.  My poor neighbor has a wee garden outside my back fence.  All of his corn was lying down.

My camera has photos that I need to download.  Maybe tonight I'll see if I can pull them off and share. Until tomorrow, enjoy your Thursday kids and do a jig in hopes that my interview Wednesday goes well.

Wednesday Random Trivia…

In case you happen to need this information for Jeopardy or your next trivia boardgame.

Television comedy queen Lucille Ball appeared on a record 29 covers of TV Guide magazine.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Americans eat more than 22 pounds of tomatoes every year. More than half this amount is eaten in the form of ketchup and tomato sauce. (If only I could get past the taste of the tomato.)

In the state of Queensland, Australia, it is still constitutional law that all pubs must have a railing outside for patrons to tie up their horse. (Often I wish Jan was still around, I would love to saddle up and go for a little trot.)

Kings of the Road: Before they became famous in the entertainment industry, these people all worked as truck drivers: Stephen J. Cannell, Robert Conrad, K.D. Lang, Gregory Peck, Sidney Poitier, Desi Arnaz, and Elvis Presley. James Cameron worked as a truck driver and a school bus driver before becoming a successful film director.

You can call it Britain, Great Britain, United Kingdom, or U.K. – however, if you purchase a stamp there, you won't find any name. Great Britain was the first country in the world to issue postage stamps, and they're the only nation in the world today that doesn't use a national name on their stamps. (I never noticed…did I send any postcards from Britain to you? Was there a name?)

In Wilton, Maine, there is a cannery that imports and cans only dandelion greens.

A Warning to Others...

I'm only going to tell you this information as a don't do what I did situation.

Do not start watching a Lifetime movie online during your lunch.  Then do not finish the movie the next day during your lunch. I'm telling you this is a bad idea.  Your face will get red, your eyes will get puffy, your eyes will swell up, and big gushing tears will pour out.  This is a challenge to hide when you have to go to the mail room after lunch.

I'm just saying.

I Scream, You Scream…

We are all screaming for ice cream because it’s summer!

I love ice cream. It’s my go to weakness, right behind birthday cake. Darn in, now I’m thinking about birthday cake. Yellow cake, white frosting….crap!

Anywho, Velvet Ice Cream is holding a favor contest. Go to this link and win ice cream for a year. http://www.velveticecream.com/

I’ve already entered my favor suggestion. Wanta know what I sent, do ya, do ya. (Yikes, I’m channeling my old pre-schoolers). Ok, wait over, are you ready for Honey Cashew?

Honey Cashew would be a base of silky Velvet vanilla ice cream, with cashew pieces mixed in and light Ohio honey swirled about. This would be the perfect combination of sweet and salty.

It’s tasty, I created my own version in my kitchen before sending my favor.

You’ve got time, but don’t wait too long, the entries for the contest must be in by August 31.

Greeting Cards…

I love a good greeting card…especially ones I can send online. There are fewer and fewer ones that can be sent at no cost as an e-card. I send real ones out from time to time. I’ve been fairly good about keeping my New Years promise to send real snail mail once a month.

I found a few online that I don’t know that I would send, but thought they were funny. You will have to picture the card with the phrases below.

Congratulations… you made it through Freshman year without getting pregnant.

I am constantly hitting escape, but I’m still here.

I just got thrown under the bus.

My stick figure could kick your stick figures butt!

Do they ever shut up on your planet.

How about a nice hot cup of…shut the hell up.

This one has to be my favorite, too damn funny!

Warning…unattended children will be given espresso and a puppy.

It's FFFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!

Random Wednesday (late) The Ohio State University Trivia...

Due to a horrible headache, I didn't do a post yesterday, it seems Wednesday has become trivia day, so it's just a wee bit late.

The first classes at OSU begin on September 17, 1873.  We were always late starters.

Two women enrolled on the first day, Harriet and Alice Townshend, daughters of professor Norton Townshend, the first professor of agriculture.

25 total students enrolled on the first day of classes.

The OSU marching band began in 1878.

The marching band did not start doing Script Ohio until 1936.

R.L. Stine wrote Goosebumps and many others is an alumnus of OSU.

Roy Plunkett invented teflon and is an alumnus of OSU.

OSU dorms became co-ed in 1972.  Poor 1971 grads.

The record of the football team in its first season at OSU was 1-3.  Wonder if I could have gotten tickets then--not likely. *frown*

The true American sport, baseball was the first athletic team at OSU, 1879.

Now to the all important winners.  Let's see there were three brave souls that attempted the trivia.  Two of you got 9 out of 15, and one of you got the tricky last one.  I didn't expect anyone to get this one.  I thought I was the only one who had seen this movie more than once to remember the line.  So, maybe because this morning has been a challenge, or maybe I respect that the three of you tried, whatever the reason...you all win.  YEAH!  Ok, so really the prize is just a photo, but a prize none the less.  Review options from this link, According To Alison Photography, and let me know which one you would like and your preferred size.

It is Tuesday, right?

Because…

It’s Friday!

Even though I slept close to 10 hours last night I still have a horrible headache.

I don’t know if people have gotten a chance to read this I just like ya.

I’m not going to post the answers for the movie trivia until Tuesday…so there’s still time to enter if you want to. Just to clarify the photo will not be this one…

It’s one you might actually enjoy of nature or such.

July 4th Trivia…

Who signed the Declaration of Independence representing Ohio?

It’s a bit of a trick question. No one.

Ohio was not one of the first 13 states. The states represented were: Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, Rhode Island, Delaware, Massachusetts, Georgia, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Have a great July 4th!
